Between Dot. and Dot.
A downloadable project
In a world drifting toward extremes, balance feels like a distant memory.
Trapped in the binary logic of "this or that," one cannot easily make a choice, leading to growing confusion and contradiction. In this state, balance turns into an abstract idea, losing its true meaning
<Between Dot. and Dot.> is an Alternative Controller Game about finding balance in a binary world. Players take on the role of a wanderer crossing a vast desert with a child. The journey is controlled by two large buttons placed far apart—one black, one white—each linked to a different character. Pressing the white button moves the white character, while the black button moves the black one. To keep both moving, players must shift side to side in a steady rhythm. What seems like a simple action demands unexpected physical effort, making players actively engage with the struggle of maintaining balance in an extreme world.
These buttons are more than just controls; they represent opposing forces, challenging the player to bridge the gap between them. With each press, sand shifts inside the buttons, subtly mimicking the sensation of walking through an endless desert. The pressure-sensitive mechanism requires endurance, turning repetitive motion into a meditative act—one that reflects on the cycle of life and death.

Can someone raised in the in-between ever truly accept it?
You would play as a lone traveler, a stranger in an endless desert, walking hand in hand with a child. This land was shaped by extremes—blazing heat and freezing cold, forces so intense they fractured the very ground beneath you. Here, you and the child are bound together, unable to part.
Like a past that refuses to fade, the child is a lingering presence—neither fully forgotten nor completely abandoned. The traveler moves forward, leading the child across the empty landscape, yet their journey is not one of choice but of necessity. If their hands separate, they are pulled back to where it all began. To move forward, players need to guide both characters together, carefully maintaining the space between them. The child’s presence may feel like a burden at times, yet the journey does not allow for separation.
Step by step, through shifting sands and silent spaces, the stranger moves forward—not only leading the child but retracing their own forgotten path. As they journey across this desolate land, they witness the echoes of past and future entwined. In guiding the child home, the stranger watches their own fate unfold, seeking balance between life and death, longing for the home they once lost.
